The 2007-2008 Red Tassel Chapter of Mortar Board

Red Tassel is the Illinois State University chapter of Mortar Board.  The members of Red Tassel/Mortar Board are committed to the ideas of scholarship, leadership, and service to the community.  Red Tassel members maintain strong scholastic performances in their coursework and are mentioned during graduation ceremonies at Red Bird Arena.  Red Tassel members demonstrate their leadership abilities through serving as either executive officers or committee members who sustain the activities of the student chapter.  Red Tassel members provide services in the interest of the Illinois State University community, the Bloomington/Normal local community and the global community.

Mortar Board, founded in 1918, is an active honor society recognizing college seniors who have excelled in the areas of scholarship, leadership, and service. Mortar Board is a national honor society that recognizes college seniors for their achievements in scholarship, leadership, and service, provides opportunities for continued leadership development, promotes service to colleges and universities and encourages lifelong contributions to the global community.

The Initiation Ceremony for the 2008-2009 Members of Red Tassel will be held on April 6th, 2008 at 12 noon in the Bone Student Center.  Please contact Dr. Hitchcock (hitchcock@ilstu.edu) if you are interested in participating in this historical event!
